“Diaspasis” solo exhibition

“Diaspasis” is a significant evolution in PichiAvo’s art. This exhibition at Wunderkammern Gallery focuses on investigating the power of matter while maintaining their signature explosive use of colors. Diáspasis – in Greek, separation – actually describes the technique that the duo started exploring two years ago: the PichiAvo paint their subjects with spray paint, acrylic and oil on a plasterboard panel and then they break it up, obtaining several fragments.

For their first exhibition at Wunderkammern, PichiAvo envisions a distant future where these fragmented wall pieces cannot be fully possessed but evoke a hidden desire to own parts like a nose, a face, an arm, or lips. Their works, created with spray, oil, and acrylic on plaster, are intentionally destroyed by the artists, drawing inspiration from various depredations of heritage found in museums worldwide. The exhibition features over thirty works, including sketches on paper and paintings on plasterboard.

The “Diaspasis” exhibition had its inaugural event on September 20th, with the artists in attendance. The new solo exhibition will remain open for public viewing until October 21st.
