‘Principios’ group exhibition at CCCC

‘Principios’ is a group show that brings together the work of ten Valencian urban artists who have gained international recognition. The exhibition revisits their early steps at the turn of the millennium, when urban art was still a local phenomenon and the internet opened new pathways to global visibility. Without social media and with only a digital camera and basic tools, these artists turned the streets into open galleries and connected with audiences worldwide.

Back then, no one asked for permission. Working mostly at night, they occupied public space with minimal resources, transforming the urban landscape of Valencia. The exhibition also highlights how the shift from local scenes to international networks was made possible not only through digital tools but by a strong DIY spirit and a shared drive to bring Valencian creativity to the world and welcome global influences in return.

Curated by Vinz Feel Free, ‘Principios’ presents this journey through archive material, original artworks, personal objects, and new site-specific murals created for the Centre del Carme.
