Renegades Project at the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne

Renegades is a project commissioned by the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne, in Australia. Consisting of three different outdoor paintings, it delves into Greek Mythology to celebrate three female characters: Medusa, Phryne and Hippolita, as a beacon of strength and power.

Women in Greek mythology and literature were negatively portrayed and accused of the downfall of men, mirroring Greek patriarchal society. “Renegades” pays tribute to three exceptional women who broke away from the traditional roles and whose actions and free spirits marked history, proving that women’s voices resonate as greatly as those of men.
