PichiAvo at Iminente Takeover Festival in Lisbon

In a riveting collaboration that unfolded at the recent Festival Iminente Takeover  in Lisbon, Portugal, PichiAvo participated in a collective installation that united international artists under under a single creative objective. This collaborative masterpiece featured an array of flags, each one representing the distinctive artistic style of the participants.

A flag is a visual symbol representative of a sovereign state, an organization, or even a neighborhood. Seemingly just a piece of simple fabric, its combinations of colors and figures are intentional, designed to represent a people, a group, a community.

For this installation, in the space typically occupied by these often hegemonic flags, Iminente wanted to fill it with different voices. Therefore, it invited the artists who participated in all editions of the festival to raise their own flags, leaving their testimony and reflection on the theme: DECENTRALIZE. Seventy-three responded and share here a unique, contemplative perspective on the social potential and impact of decentralization. They reflect on what a city without margins, only centers, would be like, questioning the notion of periphery in the most symbolic center of the country.
